The Great Yorkshire Dales Proms

Enjoy an evening of Opera, West End hits and classical favourites set against the magnificent backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales. 

Featuring special guests including Britain’s best-known soprano Lesley Garrett, renowned Tenor and Go-Compare Man himself Mr. Wynne Evans, West End singer and actress Sophie Evans and a host of outstanding young talent from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Accompanying the stellar lineup with an imaginative and eclectic mix of classical favourites, film scores and musical medleys will be the fabulous 60 piece Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ben Crick.

The evening will end with a fireworks finale and all the proms anthems; including Rule Britannia, Pomp and Circumstance No 1 and Jerusalem.

The show is suitable for all the family and includes all the classical favourites involving plenty of opportunities for audience participation, flag waving and sing-along moments.

No seating is provided and seating is not reserved so settle down wherever you want with your own chairs and blankets and enjoy the show. Aireville Park has a naturally inclined arena with perfect viewing from every location.

Lesley Garrett

Lesley Garrett

Doncaster born Lesley Garrett CBE is Britain’s best known soprano, regularly appearing in opera, music theatre, concert, on television and CD. For more than 30 years she has enjoyed one of the most successful and idiosyncratic careers of any modern-day, classically trained soprano, winning both critical acclaim and the affection of many fans and music lovers through the breadth and diversity of her work. Internationally Lesley has performed throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea. 

Wynne Evans

Wynne Evans is regularly singing to millions for the TV advertising campaign that has made him a household name as the spoof opera star Gio Compario. Although a spoof opera star in the Go Compare insurance adverts, Wynne Evans is a professionally trained opera singer with over 25 years experience and had a debut album ‘A Song in My Heart’ that went to the Number 1 in the classical charts.

Born in Carmarthen, Wales, Evans studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio.

 

Sophie Evans

Sophie Evans

West End star Sophie Evans is a Welsh singer and actress known for appearing in the BBC's Over The Rainbow (2010) in Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a Dorothy, in which, out of 10,000 hopefuls, she finished as the runner-up. Sophie has performed in many shows but most recently as Glinda in Wicked on the West end. She has performed in many major venues and arenas around the world, including, the Lyric Theatre on Broadway and The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas with ‘Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance’. 

 

 

The Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra 

In 2021, local Skipton-based conductor Ben Crick and Leeds-based concert promoter Jamie Hudson resurrected the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra, more than 60 years after it was disbanded, providing a “cultural voice for Yorkshire and the north of England” and re-employing professional musicians whose musical careers had been paused by the COVID-19 crisis. The new orchestra has accompanied many headline acts at a series of major outdoor concerts including a Picnic Proms featuring Alfie Boe, at Harewood House, and Lakeside Live Starring Queen Symphonic at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium, amongst other engagements.
